Cebu City 2020 Tax Collection Reaches P7.3B
The tax collection in the City of Cebu for the year 2020 reached P7.3 billion pesos. Despite the economic breakdown brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the city still had good numbers concerning tax collections.
However, Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella revealed that the said collection for 2020 is cut into half compared to the P14B collection for the year 2019.
The mayor is still optimistic that their city’s collection will eventually increase as the country is now moving forward from the vast economic destruction of the pandemic. Labella also recognized the hard work and dedication of the city treasurer’s office for tax collections.
Meanwhile, Cebu city-based business owners were able to pay their taxes until Feb. 20, 2021, which was an extended deadline.
The city government granted several extensions as they are also trying to consider the effects of the pandemic. (MLC)
