Lahug Shoe Store Conducts ‘Sale,’ Neglects COVID-19 Protocols

What could have been an excellent marketing move turned out bad as the sale promotion of JS Footwear in Sanson Road, Lahug ended up being the reason for the city government’s intervention to ensure the safety of the people and hold the store accountable for neglecting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) health protocols.

People flocked as tarpaulins with words such as “Super Sale 3 for 998” for the sale hung by the windows of the store, prompting the Cebu City Government to intervene. Representatives from the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, the police, and Task Force Kasaligan responded to the area and found out that JS Footwear was found out to be operating with their business permit still in the process of being acquired.

As the city continues the battle against COVID-19, social gatherings such as what happened outside the store is still not allowed, prompting the Cebu City Government to close the establishment for operating without a business permit and for violations on health protocols.

Moreover, a show cause order for JS Footwear was issued by the Business Processing and Licensing Office of the City Government and was given 72 hours to explain themselves.

The Department of Trade and Industry also issued a violation order for conducting a sale promotion without a permit.

The establishment may also face violations on Cebu City Executive Order (EO) 94. (GFB)
