Teacher Interferes with Police Operation, Jailed; 6 Others Face Charges
A male teacher from Barangay Lower Linao in the town of Minglanilla was jailed after allegedly obstructing a police operation on Monday, January 15, 2020 while 6 others are to face charges.
Strict measures on social distancing are still being implemented in the province as the Province of Cebu is still under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ).
This led the Minglanilla Police Station to respond to a received report concerning a group involved in a cockfight.
When the raiding team of the police force headed by station chief Police Major (PMAJ) William Homoc arrived at the scene, the group immediately abandoned the place and ran away.
4 of them were quickly caught by the police and the other 2 were said to have hidden inside the teacher’s house.
The policemen noticed the individuals inside, arrested them including the teacher after he denied that there were people hiding in his house.
6 arrested individuals will face charges violating Presidential Decree 449 (Cock Fighting Law) while the teacher will face Obstruction of Justice charges.
3 fighting cocks and P340 were confiscated to be used as evidence against the suspects.
Meanwhile, PMAJ Homoc said that in these trial times, they will still pursue illegal doings and implement the safety and security of everyone. Homoc also reminded everyone to refrain from any kind of gatherings. (MLC)
