Introducing — the Dotr’s Human Resource Integrated System (HRIS)
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) recently presented to its employees the HRIS Kiosk, which introduces digital transformation to the human resources process.
Answering the call of Secretary Arthur Tugade for digitalization and true transparency, the Administrative Service team, led by OIC Undersecretary Artemio Tuazon Jr. and Director Antonio Paguio, paved the way for HRIS to make administrative and management transactions fast, streamlined and accurate.
“It is about time to utilize the systems and technology that are currently available and bring our service to the next level, to be at par with the best companies in the country,” Dir. Paguio said.
HRIS is already integrated with the internal database to make all transactions digital by just scanning the QR code in the new Radio-Frequency identification (RFID) card issued to employees. The QR code in the RFID card is already incorporated in the DOTr office security system, and can serve as a gate-pass to open doors of offices, for requesting security records, and also for requesting basic office supplies and document tracking. It eases up and hastens transactions by omitting encoding and inter-office leg work.
As for the HRIS itself, Dir. Paguio stressed the three (3) key objectives that Secretary Tugade and Undersecretary Tuazon identified in pushing for the project.
The first is promoting TRUE TRANSPARENCY. With a digital records system like HRIS, documentation will be quickly and accurately processed as possible, with just a click of the finger.
Second is ENVIRONMENTALISM. With HRIS, the norm will now be paper-less transactions.
The third and the most important one is instilling the RIGHT CULTURE. With digitalization, the DOTr will be able to cultivate the proper values and ways of doing things by all of its employees.
As emphasized by Dir. Paguio, “Being government, we’re the ones governing, so we must be ahead in the industry.”
In introducing the HRIS, the Administrative Service team anticipates that employees will get to experience significant improvements in the efficiency of HR processes and its launch signify the beginning of bigger and better things to come.
And this is aligned with what Secretary Tugade envisions for the Department of Transportation – to be a more comfortable and productive workplace dedicated to serving the public.
