Naga LGU to Relocate Some Families
After the deadly landslide incident last year in Naga City, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Mines and Geosciences Bureau (DENR-MGB) conducted a risk assessment in some places near the ground zero.
Barangay Tina-an, Naalad, Mainit, Inoburan and Cabanguhan are subjected for the said risk assessment.
The risk assessment also labeled certain places as regulated zone (green), danger zone (red), critical and no habitual zone.
It was known that there are around 418 families living in the critical or no habitual zone and the local government of the City of Naga will help them to relocate.
Families affected can avail financial assistance for house rental or they can also be relocated in the National Housing Authority (NHA) housing project in Balili or in the LGU funded housing in Sitio Tapon.
Meanwhile, the local government of Naga coordinated with Barangay Risk Reduction Management Committees (BDRRMC) from different affected barangay to ensure the affected families’ safety and relocation.
The BDRRMC will also be in charged of monitoring their areas of responsibilities.
However, there are still 111 families living in the critical or no habitual zone based on the consolidated monitoring report. The BDRRMC and the city government is reaching out those families through personal persuasion and written notices to let them know the risk they are facing if they will not relocate right away.
Meanwhile, the DENR-MGB has directed a certain quarry company to implement a Hazard Reduction Plan (HRP) in the landslide area. (MLC)
