PVO Conducts Information Drive to Consolacion Hog Raisers and Vendors
Around 200 hog raisers, meat vendors, barangay officials were gathered by the Provincial Veterinary Office, headed by provincial veterinarian Dr. Mary Rose Vincoy, to conduct an information drive about the African Swine Fever (ASF).
The forum was held at the Consolacion Municipal Hall.
Municipal Agriculture Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Loida Baguion gave great gratitude to Consolacion Mayor Joannes Alegado and Vice Mayor Teresa Alegado since they initiated the idea to conduct the said forum.
Baguion said that the ASF contributed big negative impact to the swine industry.
Baguion said that in case a hog raiser’s pig experiences some symptoms, he/she should report it immediately to the Municipal Agriculture Office.
Baguion strongly suggested that people should avoid imported canned meats as of the moment to prevent the spread of the disease.
It was known that 20 countries worldwide is currently affected by ASF.
Meanwhile, Barangay Jugan councilor Ely Pepito said that he learned a lot through the said forum.
Pepito said that hog raisers should practice foot bath upon entering the piggery to maintain its cleanliness.
Hog raisers, vendors and others gave gratitude to the Local Government of Consolacion for giving them the chance to be a part of the said information drive/forum. (MLC)
