A total of 5,161 families in the municipalities of Talibon and Buenavista, Bohol were given food packs by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) , last August 8, 2019.

This is in response to the request of the provincial government and the mayors of the two towns for DSWD’s assistance to the families who were affected by the Southwest monsoon or “Habagat” intensified by the typhoon Hanna. Most of them are on living near the coastal area who were prevented to go fishing as it may put their lives at risk due to the big waves caused by this weather disturbance.

Barangays of Nocnocan, Suba, Sag, Busalian, Calituban, Guindacpan, Mahanay and Cataban in Talibon and Western and Eastern Cabul-an in the municipality of Buenavista are the recipients of the food packs.

Habagat is a southwest wind that causes heavy rainfall, humid weather and thunderstorms. It may also endanger residents who are living near the coastal areas. It usually occurs from June to October every year.
