COMELEC Talisay Prepares for Barangay Elections
Despite the stories and issues about the postponement of the barangay elections next year, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Talisay City will still push their preparations for the upcoming polls.
Election officer in Talisay City, Atty. Gallardo Escobar said that even if it is not clear whether the barangay elections will happen in May 11 next year, it is always better to prepare ahead since there’s no official announcement yet by the National Government.
Lack of budget is the primary reason of the National Government to postpone the Barangay Elections.
Escobar also pointed out that there is nothing wrong in preparing ahead.
Registration for voters will start on August 1 and will end on September 30 this year.
Escobar added that the schedule and system they are following is just tentative and may be subjected for further changes.
Meanwhile, Escobar came back to Talisay City as the COMELEC’s Election Officer after he was assigned in Toledo City. (MLC)
