DOE Eyes Oil Exploration in Northern Cebu
The Department of Energy has announced that they are currently conducting a hydrocarbon exploration or simply oil exploration in the northern part of Cebu.
Municipality of Daanbantayan and Bogo City are the subject places for the exploration mainly because they have natural gas.
Director of the Energy Resource Development Bureau of the DOE Jesus Tamang said that Forum Exploration Incorporated is the company conducting the exploration.
Meanwhile, the oil exploration in the shores of Alegria in southwestern Cebu was successful.
Tamang explained that there are around 9 oil wells present in the area.
DOE started this new oil exploration to bring vast economy development in the northern part of the province.
Energy Undersecretary Felix Fuentebella said that Visayas has around 3,797 megawatts in grids which can sustain upcoming projects in the next 5 years.
80% percent of the proposed projects are located in Leyte and Negros regarding renewable energy resources. (MLC)
