Brigada Eskwela 2019 Kicks Off
The annual Brigada Eskwela started on Monday, May 20 in preparation for the opening of classes on June 3, 2019.
Brigada Eswkela 2019 has the theme: “Matatag na Bayan para sa Maunlad na Paaralan”.
Brigada Eskwela is an annual activity implemented by the Department of Education (DepEd) and its main purpose is to clean and to prepare schools in the upcoming opening of classes.
Brigada Eskwela will end on Saturday, May 25, 2019.
The week long activity includes cleaning and repainting of classrooms and also to repair destroyed chairs, tables and other materials needed for every school.
Department of Education in Central Visayas(DepEd)-7 Regional Director Dr. Juliet Jureta called out every citizen and other stakeholders to join Brigada Eskwela to speed up the completion of the activity and for it to be more effective.
“We want to promote the spirit of bayanihan,” Jureta said.
Meanwhile, schools in Central Visayas already conducted an inventory to determine what needs to be done and what is still lacking.
In Talisay City, the launch of Brigada Eskwela was headed by Dr. Arden Monisit, the City’s Schools Division Superintendent.
He expressed his gratitude to everyone who took part of the activity.
A large number of people both from the public and private sector joined the activity.
In Mandaue City, the start of Brigada Skwela was successful in fact they deployed firetrucks and other response vehicles in the vicinity of every school in case of an emergency.
Meanwhile, during the Brigada Eskwela launch in Mactan National High School in Lapu-Lapu City, incumbent Mayor and now Congresswoman elect Paz Radaza announced that the new High School building in Barangay
Maribago will be opened for all high school students who wishes to enroll starting this school year 2019-2020.
The opening of the new high school building is strategic since classrooms and learning materials for the senior high school program is still lacking as of the moment.
DepEd-7 Education Program Supervisor Isaiah Wagas said that they are expecting around 1 million students to come to their respective schools next month when the classes open. (MLC)
