Gwen to Resolve Water Crisis
While the water crisis in Cebu province still continues to hassle the people, governor-elect Gwen Garcia eyes a possible solution.
Garcia said that the Bulk Water Supply in Carmen can generate a lot of water for Cebuanos and can be used to distribute water.
“We should also now carefully study distribution. I am now looking and studying not just bulk water generation but the distribution of this bulk water as well,” Garcia said.
Garcia said that there is a lot of water in Cebu and it just needs to be re-engineered and to come up with new innovative ideas.
“It is a matter of recognizing the resources,” Garcia said.
Garcia explained that during her time as Governor (prior to her victory this year), the Bulk Water Supply can generate up to 30 million liters per day and it was under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
The said project was a collaboration between the Province of Cebu and Manila Water with 51-49 percent share. 49 percent of it goes to the Cebu Provincial Government.
Garcia added that she will focus on this matter and resolve the water crisis as soon as possible but she also said that she still needs to review some documents and possible strategies to resolve the issue. (MLC)
