Talisay to Renew Rice Loan
The Talisay City government is set to renew its contract to avail of the rice loan services with the National Food Authority (NFA). This after the City Council approved during its session last Tuesday the new Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) allowing Mayor Johnny Delos Reyes in behalf of the city to enter a contract with said agency.
Through a resolution authored by Councilor Socrates Fernandez, the Council has authorized De los Reyes to enter into a new contract with NFA, after the previous one has expired following the end of the previous administration’s availment of Rice Loan Program for calamity relief operations and protocols. The city has always availed of NFA’s rice loan program for relief operations in case there is a calamity like fire or flood, to be given to the victims.
Under the rice loan, whenever the local government units desire to purchase rice on credit from NFA whether for relief operations, buffer stockpiling and rehabilitation project, they must submit the necessary papers to the NFA provincial office.
