The annual anticipated event “Gabii sa Kabilin” with the theme, “Rise of the Queen” in Cebu will hit its 8th time on May 30, 2014 starting from 6 pm to 12 midnight.

In a Press Conference held at Casa Gorordo on Friday, the details of the much awaited night of history was officially announced.

With the new participating sites to visit into, Gabii sa Kabilin is bound to come in a full-blown celebration together with other 32 regular participating museums and heritage sites which have been active for the the past years. These 35 sites come across the metro’s four major sites: Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Talisay City and Cebu City.

This year’s theme, “Rise of the Queen” seeks to retell the story of how Cebu’s begun. Showcased by the participating museums and heritage sites, spectators would have the a glimpse of what happened in the metro right from the opening of its ports to world trade in 1860s up to the 1930s.

Old photos of renowned persons who have had great contributions to the history of Cebu will also be exhibited.

More than the old museums and ancestral houses that ‘cocooned’ the interesting artifacts of Cebu, Gabii sa Kabilin would also hold various cultural presentations by the locals, re-enactments and storytelling of important events in history, demonstrations and locals’ delicacies and pride, pinoy games to re-appreciate, caligraphy classes and a lot more.

Among all the new and joyful activities to wait upon and be excited about, one of them is Craft Corner of the Anthrill Public Gallery to be placed at Pedro Calomarde St. cor Acacia St. Gorordo Avenue, Lahug. Here, visitors would have the opportunity to engage in making their own bracelets before leaving. This initiative seeks to rejuvenate Filipinos’ appreciation of the beauty of our textile industry.

Much is awaiting for everyone in this inclusive event. However, everyone has to choose which of the many sites they’d like to choose for a visit on that 6-hour celebration.

Tickets for the event are only 150 pesos each. Children aged 7 and below are free.

Shuttle buses are also available. These buses connect the downtown district to transport spectators to the museums and heritage sites.
