8T BHWs Attend 2nd Health Summit
Cebu Gov. Hilario P. Davide III assured the province’s barangay health workers (BHW) that the Provincial Government is doing its best to provide for their requests and needs.
Davide reassured this to the BHWs during the 2nd BHW Summit last Friday, Nov. 16.
At least 8,000 BHWs from the different towns and cities of the province gathered at the Cebu City Sports Coliseum to attend the summit, with the theme “Kahimsug sa Panglawas Alang sa Matag Sugbuanon.”
The governor also announced that the distribution of incentives to all barangay workers, including the BHWs, in the province will start this week, which was welcomed with cheers and chants from the attendees.
Health and Social Services is number one in the governor’s Six-Key Development Agenda.
Davide said the Capitol trusts the BHWs to help in the implementation of the programs that will provide quality health service to the Cebuanos.
Together with the governor during the event were Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale and Provincial Board (PB) Member Christopher Baricuatro, who chairs of the PB’s committee on health.
Among the event’s special guests was Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito, who is the chairperson of the committee on health in the Senate.
In his speech, Ejercito talked about the Universal Health Care Program bill.
Once it becomes a law, he assured the BHWs that they and the rest of the Filipinos will automatically get a health care coverage and benefits under this program.
Ejercito added that he is willing to help in upgrading the health facilities in the Province.
