80 Antiqueno Senior Citizens Receive One-time Pension
San Jose, Antique (PNA) -– Eighty Antiqueno elderlies received their one-time pension from Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao right after the Monday flag-raising ceremony at the capitol ground.
The provision of social pension is a program of the provincial government of Antique to help elderlies be able to buy their food and medicines. The social pension is separate from that being given by the Department of the Social Welfare and Development intended for the indigent elderlies.
Dubbed as “Kabalaka ka Gobernadora kay Lolo and Lola” or the Concern of the Governor for grandfathers and grandmothers, the provincial government has appropriated funds this year for Antique’s elderlies whether they receive pension from other agencies provided they are within the age bracket. Those aged 90-93 are given PHP3,000 one time and OHO5,000 for the 94-99 years.
The program was launched in September this year with 149 senior citizens who received the one-time pension.
Antique Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Lazaro G. Petinglay said that this is recognition of the vital contribution of the senior citizens in the development of the community and small way to look after them in their golden years.
He added that the provincial one-time pension for the elderlies is to augment other pensions they are getting. (PNA) FFC/AJP/LPT
