7.0-magnitude Earthquake Struck Off Coast of Southern Japan
Tokyo (PNA/Xinhua) — A strong 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of southern Japan at 05:56 a.m. local time Saturday, and tsunami warnings have been issued, Japan Meteorological Agency said. There were no immediate reports of damage.
The earthquake struck the Satsuma-hanto Seiho-oki region at a depth of about 10 km.
Tsunami warnings have been issued for the following coastal areas of Japan: Tanegashima and Yakushima area, Amamiislands and Tokara islands, and western part of Kagoshima prefecture, the agency said. (PNA/Xinhua) JBP/PJN
