668 Farmers to Receive Assistance

The Cebu City Agriculture Department processed the procurement of agricultural inputs for affected farmers in the 28 mountain barangay that costs P26.9 million pesos.

City Agriculturist Apple Tribunalo said that Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmeña already signed the purchase order following the declaration of state of calamity of the whole city due to El Niño.

The said agricultural inputs include rubberized shoes, knapsack sprayers and drums.

Based on the consolidated report of the City Agriculture Department, El Niño damaged crops such as lettuce, baguio beans, sweet corn, hot pepper, tomato, eggplant, string beans and many more.

Last month, they used the P12 million annual budget for equipment procurement to assist affected farmers in the mountain barangay.
