6 Injured in Afghan Capital Explosion
Kabul (PNA/Xinhua) — Three Afghan army soldiers and three civilians were wounded in an explosion in the eastern part of the national capital of Kabul on Saturday, said an Interior Ministry spokesman.
“A roadside planted bomb was detonated near a bus stop in Ahmad Shah Mina locality at around 6:30 in the morning, leaving six people, including three soldiers, injured,” spokesman Najeeb Danish told local media.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, and none of them received life-threatening wounds, he noted.
On Friday night, one rocket fired by militants slammed into the military part of Kabul International Airport, a security official told Xinhua, adding that the attack caused minor damages to the facilities, but no casualties were reported.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks so far.
A surge in attacks has been witnessed in the country since the Taliban launched a yearly rebel offensive against Afghan security forces and nearly 50,000 NATO-led troops stationed in the country in mid-May.
The war-torn country is due to take over the responsibility for its own security from foreign troops by the end of the year.
More than 1,560 civilians were killed and nearly 3,290 others wounded in conflicts and Taliban-led attacks in the first six months of 2014, according to official figures released by UN mission in the country. (PNA/Xinhua) JBP/PJN
