5150 Triathlon Gets Ready to Kick Off

The inaugural SUN LIFE 5150 triathlon is ready to kick off this Sunday, April 28th in Naga City, Cebu.

5150 is an international distance triathlon consisting of 1.5 kilometer swim, 40 kilometer bike and 10 kilometer run.

In this year’s triathlon, Sunrise Events Inc. choose Naga City to be the host.

Engr. Art Villamor, City Administrator of Naga City said that everything is rdy from the equipment to manpower.

He also said that this event will boost their tourism and will be a great opportunity for the city considering they are still moving on from the massive landslide in Barangay Tina-an last September 2018.

Talisay City and the town of Minglanilla also pledged their support by deploying additional traffic enforcers to assists the traffic situation during the said event.

Other equipment like traffic cones, hand held radios were also granted by the neighboring towns.

A stellar cast of professional athletes will also fight for this year’s inaugural race. Among the said professionals are Sam Betten, Mitch Robins and Dan Brown from Australia and Anna Eberhardt from Hungary.

The 1.5km swim course will be at the iconic Boardwalk in the City of Naga. The 40km bike course will traverse from the boardwalk to Barangay Inayagan (Boundary of Naga and Minglanilla) with 5 loops. Meanwhile the 10km run will also start at the boardwalk and athletes will have to turn around the vicinity of Tinaan National High school for 2 times then back to the boardwalk for the finish line.

Villamor also reminded the motorists to keep their heads cool as they would have to close 2 lanes for the said event from 5 in the morning until 12 noon.
