Lapu-Lapu City government plans to evacuate over 500 residents of Barangay Caubian after the islet submerged under seawater on Monday.

This comes as houses in the islet submerged underwater due to high tide around 1:00 AM on Monday.

Relief goods were already sent to the affected residents.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan plans to evacuate the residents for their safety. He also said that this is the first time that seawater entered the houses in the barangay.

However, Suspended Caubian Barangay Captain Jackson Matbagon clarified that only Sitio Kasadpan and Sitio Sidlakan were affected.

Barangay Caubian has three sitios Sidlakan, Kasadpan, and Tunga. (ASC)
