5 Tips to Consider While in Cebu for All Saint’s Day
With November 1 and 2 (All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day) as holiday, expect a busy crowd at the pier and at the airport on October 31 (some offices in Cebu are on a half-day work on this day).
To avoid the rush make sure you have the following ready right in your palm.
1. Make sure you have booked an early flight/schedule (especially to those who are going home to their respective provinces).
For bus passengers, expect a few security measures at the South and North Bus terminals. Expect long ques at the ticket booth and an overcrowded bus.
2. Make sure you had arranged a cab to take you to the pier or at the airport. (On October 31, flagging down a taxi is so hard especially in going to these areas).
3. Avoid the rush hour. Rush hour in Cebu usually starts at around 4 pm. Much more with some roads going to the airport are under construction.
When going to the airport from the downtown south area, expect a 20-30 minute traffic along North Reclamation area. If possible, take other alternative route. Get a traffic update if possible.
Also, expect a re-routing scheme in Mandaue and Cebu City.
4. Watch out for the pickpockets and salisi. ALWAYS. These people will surely take advantage over the busy season. In lining up for a ticket at the pier, always look around. Avoid exposing your bills, cellphones and gadgets.
5. Make sure you had everything ready for the holiday. Candles are usually priced higher than their usual market price. Flower price too will surely hike on this day. So its better to buy them earlier before the November 1.
