48 Social Distancing Violators Arrested in Minglanilla
A total of 48 residents violating social distancing protocols were arrested by the Minglanilla Police Station throughout the Southern Cebu municipality of Minglanilla today, June 25.
The full force of the Minglanilla Police Station along with the Minglanilla Traffic Commission (MITCOM) conducted the said operation which led to the arrest of 48 violators.
The social distancing operation was conducted to remind the residents that social distancing must still be strictly implemented amid the COVID-19 pandemic despite the town being under General Community Quarantine (GCQ).
“Nasayud ba kamo kong pila na ka positibo sa COVID 19 sa Minglanilla ug ngano sa subsub nga kampanya sa gobyerno nganong gusto man gyud ninyong hagiton ang kagamhanan nga walay laing gilantaw kon dili ang kaangayan sa tanan,” said Minglanilla Police Chief Police Major (PMAJ.) William Homoc, who headed the operation.
Motorcycle drivers and their passengers were quickly apprehended since the “no backriding policy” is still in effect. Among those arrested were people who failed to wear their facemasks.
Violators were required to pay fines and may face charges violating the Executive Order No. 17 series of 2020 of the Cebu Provincial Government.
Homoc urges everyone to cooperate with the officials and always follow safety and health protocols.
As of yesterday, June 24, the Municipality of Minglanilla has 66 active cases with 4 deaths and 54 recoveries. (MLC)
