3rd Cebu Intl Documentary Film Festival Scheduled August 25-30, 2014
The Cebu International Documentary Film Festival (CIDFF) in partnership with Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry announces the 3rd CIDFF scheduled on August 25-30, 2014 in Cebu City, Philippines.
Major events will include the Cebu Film Market and Broadcast Expo on August 25-26, 2014 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel, the Grand Premier on August 27, 2014 at Ayala Center Cebu, Film Caravan on August 28-29, 2014 at Cine Oriente, St. Theresa’s College Little Theatre, USC-College of Architecture and Fine Arts and Closing and Awards Night at the Marcelo B. Fernan Cebu Press Center.
A creative initiative of CIDFF, the Cebu Film Market and Broadcast Expo (CFMBx) promotes Cebu’s emerging film industry. It serves as a tool for filmmakers, producers, financiers to interact and invest and be involved in Cebu’s film market. CFMBs will conduct business matching, pitching, film screenings and exhibitions of industry products and services.
The Grand Premier and Festival Kick-off will feature the opening film, “Shunned”, a story about transsexuals directed by Fil-Am Janice Villarosa. There will be an interaction about the film with director Villarosa after the film screening at Ayala Cinema on August 27, 2014.
The Documentary Film Caravan will screen twenty-three film from over ten countries. This event is aimed at educating young minds on global issues happening at present through a wide range of documentaries in the competing and non-competing section of the festival.
For the Closing and Awards Night, CIDFF will hold the Asian premier of the film Mediastan by Johannes Wahlstrom. The event will announce the winners of the long documentary, short documentary and special documentary films.
The jury include Cebuana writer Milagros Dumdum; writer-programmer from Manila, Dodo Dayao; US-based filmmaker Janice Villarosa; Spanish filmmaker Ramon Tort and Tom Davia of Shoreline Entertainment USA.
CIDFF is a non-profit organization that manages annual international film festivals in Cebu to create and sustain an independent and world-class film market in the region. It is a platform for filmmakers, producers, artists, media practitioners and film enthusiasts to develop and share creative talents and socially-inclined filmmaking experience through documentary films.
CIDFF is organized by a group of Cebuano professionals and documentary film enthusiasts who form its board of directors, namely, Lilu Aliño, Archt. Joseph Michael Espina, Festival Director Archt. April Dequito, Marie Ernestine Fajatin-Pegarido, Me’anne Solomon, Timm Doolen and Manila-based filmmaker Crispo Mojica.
