38 Local Government Units Affected by El Niño

At least 38 Local Government Units (LGUs) are affected by the weak El Niño based on the record of the Provincial Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMO).

Affected LGUs suffered damages on crops, coral reefs, animals and some also reported that they are short on water supply.

LGUs that are affected are Ginatilan, Tudela, Ronda, Compostela, San Fernando, Pilar, Sogod, Santa Fe, Balamban, Bantayan, Alcantara, Alcoy, Boljoon, Aloguinsan, Borbon, Moalboal, Oslob, Alegria, Santander, Asturias, Badian, San Remigion, Cordova, Medellin, Dumanjug, Pinamungajan, Dalaguete, Tubura, Consolacion, Minglanilla, Daanbantayan, Liloan, Argao, Carcar, Mandaue, Danao, Talisay and Bogo.

Jules Regner, Information Officer of PDRRMO said that they will assess every LGUs in what they need so they can give it immediately.

The Cebu Provincial Capitol allocated almost P26 million pesos to assist the affected LGUs coming from the quick response fund.
