3 Persons Found Positive of Illegal Drugs in Surprise Test at Cebu Bus Terminal

Three persons were found positive for illegal drug use Tuesday in a surprise drug test conducted by the Cebu South Bus Terminal management on drivers, conductors and vendors at the terminal.

Terminal manager Joey Herrera said they targeted 70 individuals for the test.

Herrera also confirmed reports of passengers that some bus employees are into drugs after three bus conductors were arrested inside a drug den in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City.

The surprise drug test was conducted to eliminate the presence of drug users in the terminal and ensure the safety of passengers, he said.

Herrera also said they have implemented stricter security measures at the terminal after the deadly blast Friday night in a Davao City market that killed 14 people and injured 71 others.

He said he had asked for additional police personnel from the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

The terminal caters to passengers going to and from the southern part of Cebu province. (PNA) LAP/EB/EDS
