3 Inmates Ambushed, Killed Near Talisay City BJMP
Three inmates were ambushed just 300 meters away from Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) at Barangay Linao, Talisay City, Cebu on June 20, 2018 at 9:15 am.
The inmates were on board a service van when they came across two male persons faking a motorcycle accident. When they were close, the two unidentified men fired at the service van. JO2 Eran C. Marquita was hit by a bullet but was wearing bullet proof vest.
According to homicide personnel PO1 Maverick Polotan, the three inmates were killed are:
- Yayam Gaviola, 40 years old
- Marwin Abelgas 27 years old and
- Jovencio Rabadon, 36 years old
The victims were on their way to MTCC Branch 1, Talisay City, Cebu for their scheduled arraignment. They were escorted by BJMP personnels JO2 Eran C. Marquita and JO3 Clay Z. Gutierrez.
Few moments later, 6 motorcycles, each with two armed male persons came to the scene and disarmed the two escort jail personnel and ask them not to move and their only target were the three inmates onboard the service. The gunmen proceeded to deliberately kill the three inmates onboard the service van and immediately fled the scene.
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) and Homicide Personnel of the Talisay City Police recovered 18 empty shells of unidentified caliber of firearm, 10 deformed slug and 9 metal jackets.
Two of the victims, Yayam Gaviola and Marwin Abelgas, were involved in drugs; while Jovencio Rabaddon was arrested for frustrated murder.
