The Department of Interior and Local Government in Central Visayas (DILG-7) will activate a 24-hour hotline on May 11 (two days before the election) to answer election related incidents.

Kym Albrando, Local Government Operations Officer said that DILG-7 will start receiving complaints and incidents starting this Saturday, May 4.

“We will activate our hotline this weekend, but our 24-hour operation will begin May 11 up to 12 noon of May 14,” said Albrando.

Albrando added that they will answer anonymous complaints but they still need to verify these reports before the DILG can respond.

“We do get reports about certain violations such as vote buying, drinking while the liquor ban is in effect or supporters removing the posters of their candidates’ opponents. These are common complaints especially on the eve of the elections,” said Albrando.

Albrando explained that people can reach them through (032) 255-7330 and report any election-related incident.

Albrando also said that complainants can actually report personally to the DILG-7 office as well or to any Local Government Offices in their cities or municipalities.

“We urge the public to report any election-related incident and help the government make this upcoming election peaceful and orderly,” said Albrando.

Albrando also advised all registered voters to vote wisely and to strongly reject vote buying.

“Please vote for candidates who are ‘matino, mahusay, at maaasahan,” said Albrando. (MLC)
