22 Mango Growers Graduate from Training
Twenty mango growers have finished the seasonal training for Farmer Field School in Manjuyod, Negros Oriental.
The 20-weeks training was designed to equip the participants on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) on mango production.
Norberto Ouano of the Department of Agriculture (DARCPC)7 advised farmers to follow and adopt the GAP for them to be globally competitive.
GAP is a set of recommended farming practices that encompasses all stages of food production chain, and conform to internationally acceptable standards for production and export of fresh agricultural products.
The primary goal of GAP is to produce safe and quality fruits and vegetables.
Mayor Felix Sy of Manjuyod said that his municipality is one of the mango producing area of Negros Oriental.
Each graduate received flower inducers and grafted mango seedlings.
The same instruction was also given to Cebu mango producers and vegetable farmers.
Ouano said the effective way to increase fruit and vegetable productions is to adopt all advises given by farm experts to all farmers.
