2 Die in North Cotabato Accidental Grenade Blast
Banisilan, North Cotabato (PNA) — Two persons were killed, including a 15-year-old boy, and another was wounded when a fragmentation grenade they were playing on went off Thursday night, police said Friday.
Chief Inspector Bernard Tayong, North Cotabato police spokesperson, identified the fatalities as Romar Ararilla, 15 and Benjie Ararilla.
Tayong said wounded and rushed to a hospital in Maramag, Bukidnon was Cocoy Allado who sustained shrapnel wounds in various parts of the body.
According to Tayong, the explosion occurred around 7 p.m. at the dining area of former Banisilan Mayor Floro Allado’s house in Barangay Poblacion.
“Our report from Banisilan PNP said the two were blasted to death while Allado managed to seek help from neighbors who rushed him to the hospital,” Tayong said.
He said the trio were in the kitchen and playing the grenade when it accidentally went off after its safety lever were unintentionally removed.
The victims were caretaker of the former mayor’s house after he moved to Cagayan de Oro City last year. (PNA) FFC/NYP/EOF
