Some nineteen (19) persons with disabilities (PWDs) recently finished the commercial cooking training workshop at the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center II (AVRC II).

The two-day training workshop was facilitated and sponsored by the Banilad Center for Professional Development (BCPD) and was provided for free including the supplies and materials used during the training.

The participants were informed on the various strategies and techniques in managing or organizing a food business.

Then, the participants were trained on bakery skill.

They had a hands-on cooking demonstration on “cochinta” and “binangkal” making; bread and cupcake making and cupcake decorating.
“I’m grateful for the training provided by the BCPD and I hope this training translates to skills productivity of our PWDs in AVRC II,” said Regional Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre.

Macapobre also underscores the importance of providing skills training to PWDs that could lead them to their reintegration in the community.
Meanwhile, 54 active trainees of AVRC II also had a fun day at the Vano Beach Resort in Marigondon to cap off the long summer season.
They had a chance to mingle and socialize with one another in order to further boost their self-confidence.

AVRC II is a non-residential institution under the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD) Field Office VII.
