18 Men Arrested for Gun Ban, Unlicensed Firearms
Eighteen men were arrested in one of the checkpoint in Malita Davao del Sur for having different caliber pistols on Monday. They were said to be members of the Regional Public Safety Command of Philippine National Police (PNP)
Investigation is still on going in Malita Police Station where 18 armed men were detained. Accordingly, it was said that these men were under the lead of a congressman.
Meanwhile, seven persons were also captured at a checkpoint along Maharlika highway in Sto Tomas Town monday night for alleged violation of election gun ban.
Two unlicensed guns were confiscated from the seven while on board a van along barangay San Pablonayan at 10 pm according to Police Superintendent Barnard Danie DAsugo, Sto Tomas Town police chief.
Dasugo said on a phone interview tuesday morning that a 9 mm- cal. and a 38-cal. and several ammunition were confiscated from the seven.
Dasugo identified them as Alberto Puray 33; Romie Puray, 39; Del Lidasan, 51; George Rodriguez, 43; Teobert Depay, 33; Emilio Gavarra, 42 and Holito Velasco, 59 as. The latter was the van driver.
Dasugo added that the seven came from different provinces and would be charged with violation of election gun ban and illegal possession of firearms.
Authorities are still searching for the possibilities if the seven were connected with politicians.
