1,355 PUJs to be Allowed to Operate Again in Cebu City
Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella announced on Tuesday that the city has allowed 1,355 Public Utility Jeepneys to operate again.
The council ad hoc community headed by Cebu City Councilor James Cuenco has recommended 1,355 out of 5,000 PUJs that were operating the city before community quarantine.
These PUJs will be evaluated by the committee following the guidelines set by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
The evaluation will be held from October 30 to November 3.
The drivers of the said PUJs will undergo rapid testing and seminar before they could start operating.
Labella also reminded the jeepney operators to strictly follow health and safety protocols for transportation such as the wearing of face mask and face shield, not allowing talking and answering the phone, not allowing eating onboard the vehicle, maintaining proper ventilation, disinfection after every trip, temperature check and disallowing symptomatic passengers and observing passenger distance of one seat apart.
