12K Runners Expected in Color Manila 5

Expect a huge number of contingents for the fifth staging of the Color Manila Run on Jan. 8 at the SM Mall of Asia grounds.

In particular, chief organizers Jay Em and Justine Cordero estimate the number of runners joining in four different categories to be at least 12,000.

“Now on our fifth year, we intend to encourage more runners and non-runners alike, to join our various events held in different cities,” said Em, the president of Color Manila, whose running organization also staged events outside Metro Manila this year and is set to hold a run overseas.

Cordero, the organization’s vice president, added, “Since this is our fifth year, we have made Color Manila Run Year 5 very special by coming up with exciting race kits that our loyal participants and new registrants would love. Our Deluxe kit includes a dry fit shirt, sunglasses, race bib, finisher’s medal and a color packet.

Then for the Rockstar package, there’s an additional headwear and drawstring bag. And of course, for the 21K runners, their race kit includes singlet, sunglasses, drawstring bag, pillow, race bib, timing chip, the finisher’s medal, finisher’s shirt, GU Energy Gel and the color packet. Most of our participants have also enjoyed collecting our merchandise.”

Also, expect celebrities to join the said run.

Showtime hosts Kim Atienza and Karylle Yuzon, known to be veteran runners, were among those who participated last year even as Binibining Pilipinas-Universe Maxine Medina, who will vie for Miss Universe also this January as she represents the host nation, ran as well. (PNA)FPV/IVAN SALDAJENO/EBP
