115 Pantawid Beneficiaries Finish Security Guard Training Course
Some 115 Pantawid Pamilya partner-beneficiaries from various cities and towns in Cebu recently graduated from Centurion Security Training Academy’s security services training course.
This 21-day intensive short course is one of the various livelihood skills training conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VII (DSWD-7) through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).
“To all the graduates, our graduation does not end here. Continue what you started and fulfill it as I will also in myself,” said Gerry Momongan in his valedictory address.
Gerry also emphasized the value of sacrifice and hardwork in achieving one’s dream.
Centurion Security Training Academy’s Training Director Atty. Michelle G. Mendez-Palmares shared the humble beginning of their family business.
Her father, Atty. Jacinto V. Mendez, who was once a security guard himself, established Centurion Security Agency in March 1965.
“Now is the time to grow for a life of abundance and cross over from poverty,” said Atty. Palmares.
For DSWD-7 Regional Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre who attended the graduation rites, this is just the start of their journey.
Addressing to the parents and siblings Director Macapobre said, “Pinaagi sa Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, gitabangan natu ang inyung mga anak o igsuon nga makahuman sa pag-eskwela ug adunay maayu nga panglawas. Karun pinaagi sa SLP, atong gi-siguro nga mapangitaan og kapanginabuhian ang atong mga benepisyaro sa Pantawid aron puhon makalampos gayud sa kalisud (Through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, we help your children or siblings to finish their education and to have good health. Now, through SLP, we ensure that they can find jobs and eventually overcome the hardships in life)”.
The graduates belong to the fifth and sixth batches of trainees assisted by DSWD’s SLP in partnership with the Centurion Security Training Academy, Inc.
