11 Useful Features When Using Google Search
There are dozens of odd features available in Google search. Setting a timer, translating languages, and converting between different units of measurement and currencies are just a few of the many things you can do with Google search.
1. Stopwatch and timer
You can simply type “timer” in your Google search engine and you will get a timer ready to use. A stopwatch comes along with it to alert you when the time is up.
2. Shipment tracking
This feature works for FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS, and other services. You can use the feature by typing the delivery service company and adding the word “tracking”, for example, “FedEx tracking”. Once done, type in your tracking number. Another is to type your tracking number directly on the search engine.
3. Conversions
Google search allows you to convert a wide range of units. Whether you want to convert feet to meters, kilometers to miles, pounds to kilograms, a simple and easy typing on the search engine will do it for you.
4. Searching with Google lens
With the use of your camera, Google Lens, an AI-powered tool, can deliver contextual information depending on what it can observe. To do so, right-click an image and select “Search image with Google lens”.
5. Delete the last 15 minutes of search history (Smartphone only)
The last 15 minutes of your search history can be removed by opening the app and tapping your profile image. Although it’s not quite as simple to delete your search history as your browsing history, this option makes it much simpler.
6. Instant search bar shortcut
You only need to press “/” to bring the search bar back up whenever you are on a Google search page. Once you’ve done that, you can start typing away to find whatever you want to look up next.
7. Multisearch (Smartphone only)
This year, Google added a new function called multi-search to its iOS and Android apps. This function combines text-based and image-based searching to produce targeted results.
8. Site search
You can get results specific to one website by typing “site:” and then add the URL of the specific website.
9. In-browser calculator
You can type in your math problem or the word “calculator” and Google will provide you with a calculator you can use.
10. Tip Calculator
Google will tell you how much to tip when you simply enter the “tip calculator.” Even better, you can just divide the tip among your party members.
11. Metronome
Metronome is one of the many in-browser tools you can use when you type it up on the search engine. Other in-browser tools include a tuner, meditate, color picker, spinner, roll die and flip coin work, etc.
