1 million surgical masks donated by Spanish-Filipino tycoon Enrique Razon Jr. will be distributed to Cebu City and other areas. The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) will conduct the distribution.

OPAV received the bulk of surgical masks along with 2,000 raincoats on Wednesday.

Councilors Raymund Alvin Garcia and Edu Rama said that they are planning to donate the surgical masks to different barangays while the raincoats will be donated to the Philippine National Police (PNP) to protect themselves against the elements especially now that the rainy season has started.

Meanwhile, despite Cebu City being placed back under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) until June 30, officials said that there are still numerous Cebuanos who do not observe safety protocols such as wearing face masks and social distancing.

Secretary Dino, however, emphasized the importance of wearing masks to prevent the further spread of the disease.

Now that the bulk of surgical masks will be distributed, secretary Dino also said that residents would no longer have a reason not to wear face masks. (MLC).
