NNC 7 reaches out to more partners in the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017-2022 in the region, through the 7th NGO Forum held on 14 November 2017 at the Azia Suites and Residences, Cebu City.
After the success of the dissemination of PPAN 2017-2022 and launching of the Regional Plan of Action for Nutrition (RPAN) 2017-2022 where support from local government units were solicited, this time, through the NGO Forum, the region aims to also mobilize NGO resources towards the accomplishment of RPAN objectives.
The event anchored on the theme “Mobilizing non-government, civil society and faith-based organizations for RPAN 2017-2022 implementation”, emphasized the roles of NGOs, CSOs and FBOs and aimed to harness their contribution in the achievement of RPANs targets and desired outcomes.
Representatives from the Regional Nutrition Committee shared their agency’s programs and projects which are included in the RPAN’s nutrition interventions. Among the speakers included Ms. Julieta G. Tutor of DOH RO7 for their nutrition specific programs, Mr. Ranilo L. Edar of DepEd R7 for their Gulayan sa Paaralan, one of the nutrition sensitive programs, and Ms. Carmen Gina T. Batiancila of DBM R7 for the different enabling mechanisms.
Select NGOs also presented their organizations’ best nutrition practices to guide other participants on how to align their programs, projects and activities to the current RPAN. They included Dr. Dainah C. Fajardo of Engender Health-Visayas Health, Mr. Ariel D. Odtojan of World Vision, Inc., and Mr. Axell M. Alterado of Zuellig Family Foundation.
The 7th NGO Forum was attended by forty-two participating NGOs implementing programs and projects which supports PPAN. Among the attending NGOs/CSOs/FBOs were from the Action for Nurturing Children and Environment, Inc.; Ayala Foundation; Cebu Caritas Inc.; Cebu City Task Force on Street Children; CURE Foundation; Engender Health – Visayas Health Project; Friends of Guadix Association Inc.; FORGE Inc.; Gawad Kalinga; Intersect Inc.; Juanito King Foundation; Mother Ignacia National Social Apostolate Center; Norfil Foundation Inc.; OPTIONS, Inc.; Pagtambayayong Foundation; Pandoo Foundation,; Philippine Association for Nutrition-Cebu Chapter; Projects Abroad; Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.; Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council; Renewsiya Foundation; Share A Child Movement Inc.; World Vision Inc. and Zuellig Family Foundation.
Dr. Parolita A. Mission, NNC 7 Nutrition Program Coordinator thanked all the participants for showing their support to the nutrition program and emphasized that all NGOs actions is contributing towards healthier and more productive Filipino children. STL
